The Town of Superior is located between the Boulder-Denver Turnpike (U.S. 36) to the North and State Highway 128 to the South just six miles east of the City of Boulder. The Town mostly sits in Boulder County with a small southern portion of land in Jefferson County. The City of Boulder is five minutes northwest of the Town and Downtown Denver is thirty minutes to the southeast. Denver International Airport is a forty-five minute drive.
In 1987, the Town approved a proposed development southeast of the original town that would allow for new residential development and the creation of both a water and sewer treatment plant. The treatment plants would have the capability of providing clean water and sewer service to the entire Town even after full development. |
The new development is known as Rock Creek Ranch. Although the land was subdivided in 1987, development continues today. Through 2000, approximately 1900 single-family homes and 1600 multi-family homes have been developed in Rock Creek swelling Superior's population to approximately 9,000.
